Clearly Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has increasing problems on Filbert Way. The Foxes were battered by Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers at King Power Stadium on Sunday. A lacklustre performance from the east Midlanders saw their own players booed, one or two were individually jeered as we will explain. City did have their chances but Wolves were the more accomplished and better performing team on the day.
Some of Leicester's starting personnel were not available, and it told in one area in particular. That is because No.1 goalkeeper Mads Hermansen is already out injured. The Dane's absence certainly contributed to the loss at home to the Wanderers, unfortunately. Understudy stopper Danny Ward was unable to put in the required performance as LCFC slumped to an alarming defeat.
The former Manchester United forward now at City's helm could soon have further issues to deal with regarding his own 'keepers. If van Nistelrooy has to field Ward, this especially applies with all due respect. If we trust a claim doing the rounds, Hermansen's presence in the side is actually under threat. Naturally, avoiding relegation becomes even more crucial when considering your best players' potential departures. Let's also hear what RvN said after the latest loss.
Quite how a Premier League boss can face the media following a drubbing like Leicester took at the weekend, I'll never know. Nonetheless, van Nistelrooy answered journalists' questions:
"We have to acknowledge that we didn't look good, and I will be the first to do that - it is a hard one to take."Ruud van Nistelrooy
Hermansen is said to be the subject of interest for several major football clubs. That is unsurprising, to be honest: the 24-year-old is obviously one of City's foremost talents.
This type of standing at Leicester always leads to worry for the Blue Army. Tellingly, Inter Milan are reportedly ready to bid £20 million for the goalie. It is unclear whether Hermansen would consider leaving or not.
