Christian Pulisic is on the brink of further establishing himself at AC Milan. The American forward remains an integral piece in the Rossoneri setup and is close to agreeing a contract extension through 2029. The transfer not only reinforces his worth to the club but also solidifies his position as the USMNT's premier figure in European soccer.
The signing is timely for both Pulisic and Milan, which has been in desperate need of stability and continuity among its ranks. At a net annual contract value of €5 million, his salary is equivalent to the club's highest earner, along with Rafael Leão, to prove that his €22 million transfer from Chelsea in 2023 was among the Rossoneri management's finest signings.
Since coming to Milan, Pulisic has been the most conclusive player in the team. With 12 goals and nine assists in 30 games this season, he has already surpassed all expectations since the beginning. His direct goal contribution is over 20 per annum, and he is a reliable attacking element.
For American fans, Pulisic represents the face of the USMNT, the man who sported the flag of the United States on the upper rungs of European soccer. In a country where the sport is on the rise year by year, it is vitally important that there be a player exceling at one of the topflight European clubs as a means to inspire a younger generation of soccer players.
His statistics at Milan are not showmanship: 27 goals and 20 assists in 80 games, an immediate impact which few have made so soon in the team. The forward not only adjusted to Italian soccer but now is also a must-start name for Milan.
The club considers Pulisic not only a major player but also a future captain. In addition, with the likelihood of Mo Salah leaving Liverpool, news emerged that the Reds were set to sign Pulisic. However, this extension confirms that Milan has no intention of losing its No. 11 to the Premier League.
Milan understands that Pulisic is not only a great player but also an enormous marketing asset. With the World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026, the advantage of having the biggest star in the USMNT playing at top level for Milan would pick up even more fame and sponsors for the team.
The signing of Pulisic from Chelsea for €22 million was, by far, one of the smartest moves Milan has ever made in history. Today, less than two years later, Pulisic not only paid back his price tag but also became one of the attacking leaders of the team. His development on the field and his impact off the field validate that Milan made the right bet on the American forward.
Speculations that Pulisic would ever return to the Premier League are now no more. Now that Liverpool have needed a replacement for Salah, it was rumored that they had eyes for Milan's No. 11.
But with the new deal nearly sealed, Pulisic will continue wearing the Rossoneri jersey. Milan knows that they have a technically gifted, consistent player with immense potential for development, especially considering that he is only 26 years old.
