Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City face Urawa Red Diamonds in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.

Manchester City face the Japanese outfit at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah in midweek, as the treble-winners seek to win their fifth trophy of the year and become World Champions.

Guardiola’s side are competing in the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in Manchester City’s history, after the Blues qualified for the tournament with their maiden UEFA Champions League win in June.

Manchester City, who have already won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and Super Cup this year, have recently stalled in their Premier League title defence, dropping points for the seventh time this season at the weekend.

The Sky Blues collapsed to a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday, as goals from Jack Grealish and Rico Lewis were cancelled out by a late Eagles comeback.

Manchester City travelled to Saudi Arabia after the disappointing draw, with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland both part of the Blues’ squad.

Guardiola’s side won’t return to Premier League action until after Christmas, with two upcoming FIFA Club World Cup fixtures, starting with Tuesday’s semi-final against Urawa Red Diamonds.

Team News

Manchester City named Kevin De Bruyne in their FIFA Club World Cup squad, however the Belgian is unlikely feature at the tournament, as the 32-year-old continues to recover from a long-term hamstring injury.

Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku both missed Saturday’s draw due to injury, but the pair could be in contention to feature on Tuesday evening in Jeddah.

John Stones made a brief appearance at the weekend after starting against Crvena zvezda in Belgrade on Wednesday evening.

Head to Head

Manchester City have never previously faced Urawa Red Diamonds, with the Japanese club having beaten Club Leon in the second-round to reach the semi-final stages of the Club World Cup.

Urawa Red, who are managed by Polish coach Maciej Skorża, finished fourth in the J1 League, two places behind City Football Group’s Yokohama F Marinos.
