Aston Villa are assessing a potential move for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, as the Argentine becomes the latest high-profile casualty of upheaval at Old Trafford. According to the Daily Mail, Villa have registered their interest, joining Chelsea and Tottenham in monitoring Garnacho’s situation.
The 21-year-old is reportedly keen to remain in the Premier League, despite growing interest from Europe, including a rejected approach from Napoli in January and fresh links to Atletico Madrid.

Garnacho is currently training away from the first team, having returned to Carrington last Thursday. He trained with Marcus Rashford, another member of United’s bomb squad, as Garnacho awaits clarity over his future.
While United are open to loan deals for Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Rashford, they are determined to sell Garnacho outright. As the Daily Mail reports, this is driven by Financial Fair Play considerations, as Garnacho’s sale would generate “maximum profit”.
His current valuation, once as high as £70 million, is now expected to be considerably lower, given the public breakdown in relations between the player and the club. That tension was exacerbated last month when Garnacho posted a photo of himself wearing Rashford’s No.9 Villa shirt, fuelling speculation of unrest.

The final blow appears to have been delivered by United’s head coach Ruben Amorim. Garnacho’s fate was sealed after his furious reaction to being left out of the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. Amorim has since told him to find a new club.

While Garnacho was allowed time away to explore a move, he and the other exiled players have now been summoned back. However, they have only been permitted to train in the evenings, once the senior squad and staff have vacated the facility.
Villa’s interest comes at a time when United have been linked with striker Ollie Watkins and goalkeeper Emi Martinez. It’s unclear whether those talks are part of any broader negotiation, but it adds complexity to a situation that is already politically charged.
Let’s be honest, this rumour raises a few eyebrows. Garnacho is clearly a talented player, but his exit from Manchester United has the feel of a circus. Training away from the first team, falling out with coaches, posting cryptic social media pictures, none of it screams professionalism.
Is this really a player who fits Unai Emery’s system or is it a headline move for the sake of it?
Villa have worked hard to build a team culture rooted in discipline, work ethic and togetherness. Does Garnacho fit that mould? Or is this a gamble on raw talent that could end up backfiring if things go south?
There’s also the matter of price. Even at a discounted rate, he’ll be expensive. If United are desperate to offload, why should Villa pay top dollar for a player their own manager has effectively banished?
It would be great for Villa to land a gifted young winger, but only if the dressing room dynamic is protected. If this is a statement move, they need to be very careful what kind of statement it makes.
