Manchester United ended 2024 on a disappointing note with a 2-0 Premier League loss to Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were outclassed in the first half of the encounter. They were unconvincing in both the defensive and attacking departments.
Ruben Amorim’s side improved following the interval, but the Magpies managed to hold onto their lead with relative ease.
Joshua Zirkzee was substituted after just 33 minutes on Monday, and Tuttojuve report that United are looking to replace him.
The same outlet add the Red Devils have made an approach to try and sign Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain this month.
Zirkzee has had a tough debut season with the Red Devils. The 23-year-old has netted only four goals from 26 appearances in all competitions.
He had the worst moment of his United career on Monday. Amorim’s early decision to substitute him led to a cheerful reaction from some fans.
Juventus are now ‘dreaming‘ of signing Zirkzee on loan with an option to buy with suggestions that his relationship has soured with the club.
In our view, United should look to sign Kolo Muani on a short-term loan with a buy clause if they were to sanction Zirkzee’s return to Serie A.
Muani has had a rough patch during his time at PSG, but he was one of the best strikers in Europe in his solitary campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt.
A loan deal would be a risk-free solution for the Red Devils, who desperately need something different up front for the second half of the season.
Muani has a tireless work rate and can link-up play aside from scoring goals. He would be a good fit in the 3-4-2-1 formation under manager Amorim.
A temporary switch would help them assess whether the £26 million-rated star can adapt to the Premier League before considering the option to buy.
