Manchester United have reportedly reached a full agreement with Brentford to sign forward Bryan Mbeumo.
According to The Athletic, the two clubs have settled on a deal worth up to £71 million (€82m), which includes an upfront payment of £65 million split over four instalments, with a further £6 million in potential add-ons.
The 25-year-old Cameroon international had made it clear that Old Trafford was his preferred destination if he were to leave the Gtech Community Stadium - and the move is now close to completion.
United returned with an improved bid after a £65m offer with £5m in add-ons was rebuffed.
Brentford had aimed to surpass the £62.5m fee United previously paid Wolverhampton Wanderers to secure Matheus Cunha earlier in the window.
The Athletic's report states that Mbeumo had previously informed both Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur - another interested party - of his intention to join United if a summer move materialised.
The winger is set to become United’s third addition of the summer following the arrivals of Cunha and promising full-back Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno in Paraguay.
