The AC Milan Futuro project has not gone to plan so far, and Daniele Bonera is under pressure as a result. However, he has claimed there is a reason for the failings.

When Jovan Kirovski arrived, there was heavy talk about the possibility of Milan creating a team between the Primavera and the senior team. A way to test the youngsters that were far above the level of the youth ranks, but not yet ready for Serie A.

This, of course, was the Futuro set-up which was entered into Serie C this season. After the success in the UEFA Youth League last season, there were high hopes for the team. However, this has not been the case.

Instead of looking towards the top of the division, the Young Rossoneri team has been left looking upwards, with Bonera’s team very much in a relegation battle. Today, the coach has spoken about the reasoning for the difficulties, and Calciomercato.com have relayed his statements.

“Serie C is a particular category, Camporese and Magrassi have an important curriculum and they immediately fell into the new reality while Ianesi and Quirini already have a long experience in the C and this makes the difference, because they go to enrich a group that is growing slowly.

“I am sure that, beyond the difficulties, we will be able to take some great satisfaction and end the season in a good position.

“The market? We are happy that players are going to the first team, Bartesaghi joined today, but if they go up to Serie A then we are short in terms of numbers. We will evaluate until next week what to do.”
