Callum Hudson-Odoi is once again the subject of transfer attention, with Sky Sports News reporting that Roma, Napoli, and two unnamed Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation. As the Nottingham Forest forward enters the final year of his contract, interest across Europe is beginning to mount.
While Forest have opened early talks with Hudson-Odoi’s representatives about a new deal, no agreement has been reached. According to Sky Sports, “Forest have held initial discussions with Hudson-Odoi’s representatives over a new deal.”
Despite speculation, Hudson-Odoi is committed to helping Forest close out what has been a surprising and ambitious season. “Hudson-Odoi is focused on the remainder of the season with Forest in the FA Cup semi-finals and fighting for a Champions League finish.”
It’s understood that the 23-year-old winger will wait until the summer to fully assess his options. “It’s thought he wants to assess all his options in the summer.”
This pragmatic approach could offer Forest some optimism but also underlines the risk of losing a key player without a firm renewal in place.
For Forest fans, Hudson-Odoi’s situation is cause for cautious concern. On one hand, his desire to stay focused on the pitch speaks volumes about his mentality—he’s been instrumental in Forest’s incredible FA Cup run and their shock tilt at European qualification. But with just a year left on his deal, the club faces a familiar dilemma.
Supporters will feel uneasy at the idea of losing a rejuvenated Hudson-Odoi, especially after seeing flashes of the talent once tipped to be a long-term England star. His performances this season have reignited belief that he can be a game-changer at the top level.
What’s troubling is the calibre of clubs showing interest. Roma and Napoli don’t scout without purpose, and if Forest can’t tie him down before the summer window, the leverage shifts to the player. A Bosman scenario becomes more realistic.
Forest’s board must act swiftly and smartly. A structured contract extension—not merely reactive—could secure both his future and the club’s attacking foundations. For a fanbase still dreaming of continental football next season, losing Hudson-Odoi now would feel like handing over the keys just as the doors have been unlocked.
