Two Barcelona stars set to be left out of squad for pre-season tour | OneFootball

A pair of out-of-favour members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona are expected to be omitted from the club’s travelling squad bound for Asia on Thursday.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Oriol Romeu and Andreas Christensen as the players in question.

News of the former’s impending absence should of course come as little surprise. This comes with midfielder Romeu, after a season on loan at Girona, not featuring in the plans of Hansi Flick.

Christensen’s expected omission, though, comes as more of a surprise.

Whilst the former Chelsea man sits well down the central defensive pecking order in Barcelona’s squad, his performances in limited minutes late this past season proved of an impressive nature.

As per a report from MD, however:

‘Barça don’t want a fifth center back (to travel on the pre-season tour), and the Dane is the one being sacrificed.’
