One of the interesting sub-plots to the Coppa Italia final between AC Milan and Bologna concerns two right wingers whose fates could cross.
Tomorrow night’s game at the Stadio Olimpico could be the last final for some Milan and Bologna players, given that the summer transfer window is approaching and both managements intend to improve the squad.
As reported by Tuttosport (via MilanPress), Milan have been on Riccardo Orsolini’s trail for some time. In fact, in the winter window the Rossoneri tried to snatch him from Bologna by offering €18m plus the loan of Noah Okafor.
Bologna’s president Joey Saputo did not accept that particular offer, but tested the waters for Samuel Chukwueze, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Milan since the summer and should leave before 2025-26.
The Nigerian came off the bench on Friday against the Rossoblu in the Serie A match won by the Rossoneri and looked sharp, having a hand in the comeback. It is expected he will be used as an impact sub in Rome, too.
In short, the fates of Orsolini and Chukwueze seem to be intertwined. Who knows, maybe this summer the two will have to change sides or maybe they will both find themselves competing for a spot at Bologna.
