Tuttosport: Reijnders future ‘not secure’ despite imminent renewal – the ‘Tonali-like’ reason

Tijjani Reijnders has probably been AC Milan’s best player this season and with the club underperforming, this comes with a significant price.
There have been few players as consistent as Reijnders this season, and this point could arguably stretch back to last season too. With a number of players failing to regularly show star quality, others have had to step up, and the Dutchman has done so regularly.
Whether it be moments of magic, or being in the right place at the right time, the midfielder has come on leaps and bounds this season, and a defined role has probably helped with this.
Nevertheless, Tuttosport (via Pianeta Milan) reports that this may have an undoing. Because of his performances, his future at the club is not secure, despite the fact that he is expected to extend his deal with the club shortly.
Instead, Milan may be facing another ‘Tonali-like’ situation, where an offer is too good to refuse. If this were the case, imaginably the funds would be used to invest back into the team and midfield, as was done with that money 18 months ago.
Whilst his case is far from the situations of Theo Hernandez, and perhaps even Rafael Leao, his long-term Rossoneri future may be in doubt – because of overperformance, rather than underperformance.
