Turkish rumours: Ajax striker Weghorst top of old flame’s wish list | OneFootball

According to VoetbalPrimeur, Wout Weghorst is back on the radar at Besiktas. The Black Eagles want to bring two strikers to Istanbul this summer, and the Ajax attacker is at the top of the list.

Weghorst is in his first season at Ajax and is contracted to the Amsterdam club until the summer of 2026. He already played on loan for Besiktas in the first half of the 2022-23 season.

According to Turkish sports media Sporx, the fourth-placed Süper Lig side are giving ‘priority’ to the arrival of Weghorst. Ciro Immobile is expected to leave Besiktas, and a replacement must be found for the Italian.

There are reportedly supposed to have been talks with the Ajax striker, who has mainly been deployed as a substitute under trainer Francesco Farioli. It is believed that the Oranje international can command a big contract at the Turkish club.

On loan from Burnley, Weghorst quickly became a crowd favourite, scoring nine times in 18 matches for Besiktas.
