However, following the Reds impressive win last night against AC Milan, Trent dropped a big hint surrounding his future in an interview with CBS Sports.

Trent excited by Arne Slot's plans

Once again, Liverpool's number 66 was on fire down the right-hand side. The scouser was influential in moving the ball up the pitch and in terms of his defending, he kept Rafael Leao incredibly quiet making sure there was no way through for the Milan attacker.

After the game, Trent was interviewed by the CBS Sports panel consisting of Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards. During this section, Carragher asked the Three Lions defender about working under new managers, both for Liverpool and England and how pleased Trent was with the start he has made to the season.

The response will delight supporters. Trent states that, “For me it was the excitement to work under a new manager, I was excited about the plans. I wanted to hit the ground running and be one of the best players in the league.”

Despite rumours around his future at the club and his relationship with Slot, these comments clearly suggest that the Merseyside-born player is happy with his current situation and eager to continue at Liverpool under Arne.

Fans will hope the whispers of his exit are quashed with a new deal but for now, Trent seems content where he is and Reds will be hoping he can carry on the good form he has shown so far this season into the next set of games and beyond.
