Transfermarkt: Where Milan, Juventus and Inter’s academies rank in terms of value | OneFootball

Transfermarkt have drawn up a ranking of the clubs around Europe that have produced the most valuable players from their academies, and AC Milan are lagging behind.

The data from Transfermarkt (via Calciomercato.com) compares best youth sectors in the world, taking as its criterion not the number of players launched into senior football, but rather the market value of all the players raised in their respective clubs.

Globally there are no surprises: Barcelona dominate the rankings with a cumulative market value of almost three and a half billion euros (€3.48bn) thanks to the likes of Gavi, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí who are at the club now but also Alejandro Grimaldo and Dani Olmo who left.

Completing the podium were two teams far from the ‘top five’ European leagues. It starts with Ajax, who launched players like Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt, and then there is Benfica who boast graduates such as Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo.

Italy is very far from these numbers and Serie A’s top club is only in 27th place overall, the only Italian club present in the top-30.

It is Atalanta, with a combined value of €858m, then followed by Juventus at €841m, Inter at €675m, Roma at €569m and Milan at €535m. Inter are in the lead in terms of number of players produced by the academy (348, ahead of Juventus 329).

The value for Milan comes from the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma (€40m), Manuel Locatelli (€33m), Bryan Cristante (€20m), Davide Calabria (€15m), Tiago Djalo (€15m), Tommaso Pobega (€12m) and Raoul Bellanova (€10m).
