Despite not having a strong Italian base, AC Milan are still providing international talent to teams, and a report has shone a light on that this afternoon.
In the past year, Milan have regularly been lauded for their lack of Italian talent within the squad, especially given the historical focus on domestic players. Nevertheless, this is not to suggest that the club do not have some good players still.
Of course, international call-ups are not the be-all and end-all of everything, but there is a certain quality needed to represent a side on an international level, and perhaps, a level of solace can be found in the data from Transfermarkt.
As seen below, Milan have 15 players away on international duty with the players being valued at €409 million. In terms of call-ups themselves, this figure is the best in the league, with Juventus sitting below with 14 players. Napoli, Atalanta and Torino make up the remainder of the top five represented teams.
Whilst Inter do not reside within this group, they have the highest value of international talent at €426m, surpassing Milan’s despite having five fewer representatives, sitting sixth in the call-up table, if you will.
