Opta Profile: Marc Guehi - the next part of Liverpool's spending spree?
The new Premier League season starts tonight and club’s are looking to finalise any deals for new signings.
Manchester United have spent big on new forwards and have their sights on PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. First they will need to make some sales with Jadon Sancho being targeted by Besiktas and Roma, Antony wanted by Benfica and Chelsea interested in Alejandro Garnacho.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have agreed a fee with teenage defender Giovanni Leoni as they hope to bolster their defence. The club also remain in talks with Crystal Palace over Marc Guehi and the London side may want to cash in before his contract expires next summer. The Reds still hold an interest in Alexander Isak, who is trying to force a move away from Newcastle, but they will need to spend big money to secure him.
Roma are in talks with Aston Villa over a deal to sign Leon Bailey, according to The Athletic.
There has been no formal bid for the 28-year-old as of yet but Roma are emerging as the strongest suitor, with interest also coming in from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Benjamin Pavard is reportedly up for grabs. L’Equipe believe the French international could leave Inter Milan if the Serie A club receive an offer that meets their valuation, which could be as small as €15m (£13m) for the 29-year-old.

The concept of “winning” a transfer window more often than not boils down to how many players a team has signed. That being said, Liverpool could make a genuine claim to the crown with their summer business. Losing Trent Alexander-Arnold hurt, though to do so for £10m in order for the right-back to participate in the Club World Cup softened the blow of a potential free exit.
Nevertheless, Jeremie Frimpong is a fine successor at Anfield, the Dutchman willing to barrel upfield without a second’s hesitation to help stretch defences. Milos Kerkez, even at 21 years of age, is a Premier League experienced left-back that should, in the long term, prove an upgrade on Andy Robertson.
