The future of Ismaël Bennacer could be written far from AC Milan. After spending the second half of the season on loan at Olympique de Marseille, the Algerian midfielder has returned to Lombardy.

However, he doesn’t seem to be in the club’s plans, especially since Milan have just bolstered their midfield with the high-profile signing of former Real Madrid star Luka Modrić.

The 27-year-old is being targeted by Real Betis, who are looking to secure him on loan with a purchase option during this summer transfer window. The Verdiblancos would offer the former Empoli midfielder the opportunity to play in the Europa League next season.

Olympique de Marseille also wanted to keep Bennacer, but AC Milan’s demands and the player’s salary expectations have stalled negotiations.
