Alphonso Davies finds himself at the centre of a transfer tussle involving three of the biggest clubs in Europe in FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
The Canadian international’s current contract with the Bavarian giants expires on June 30, 2025 at which point he can leave the club as a free agent.
Bayern, though, are not prepared to throw in the towel and have been working hard to convince the 24-year-old to stay put.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, have been long seen as the favourites to land Davies if he opts to move on.
However, now, according to Cadena SER, as relayed by SPORT, Real Madrid are seriously considering walking away from their pursuit of Alphonso Davies.
This is because the reigning champions of Spain and Europe have not received a positive response from the player’s camp, which has reportedly led to frustration.

After having worked hard to secure an agreement with him, Real Madrid are allegedly upset that Davies is still looking to negotiate with other clubs like Barcelona and Bayern, and as such are prepared to back off if they do not receive a positive response early in January.
This could open the doors for Barcelona to swoop in for Davies, with the club banking on the left-back’s connection with Hansi Flick to convince him to make the move to Catalonia.
The Blaugrana have expressed their interest in signing the left-back a few weeks ago and inquired about the conditions/financial demands.
Flick considers Davies to be a very important player who could add a lot to the squad with his versatility. However, the Catalans’ issue lies in the salary cap. If they manage to return to the 1:1 rule, the operation could be feasible.
Barcelona needs time, and it remains to be seen whether Davies will grant them that, as Bayern are putting significant pressure on him to make a decision.
