Spurs’ injury woes have, somehow, worsened
Djed Spence, Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr are all doubts for Tottenham's game against Leicester on Sunday, leaving head coach Ange Postecoglou desperately short of options.
Spence was one of four ineligible players for Thursday's Europa League win over Hoffenheim in Germany, with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky and Sergio Reguilon poised to return to the side against the Foxes and teenager Min-hyeok Yang also available again.
Kinsky will replace Brandon Austin in goal and Reguilon could make only his second start of the second at left-back because Archie Gray, 18, appears in need of a rest and will have to play next Thursday against Elfsborg.
If Sarr and Bissouma do not make the cut, Postecoglou will have no choice but to stick with the same midfield three that played midweek and the Australian is down to just four first-team forwards, including teenager Mikey Moore.
The 17-year-old could come into the side following another lively cameo against Hoffenheim but is more likely to be used as an impact sub.
Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Dominic Solanke also remain sidelined through injury.
Tottenham predicted XI: Kinsky; Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Reguilon; Bentancur, Bergvall, Maddison; Kulusevski, Son, Richarlison
Doubts: Sarr, Spence, Bissouma, Romero
Injured: Vicario, Solanke, Udogie, Johnson, Werner, Van de Ven, Odobert
Time and date: 2pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
