Tottenham Player Ratings: Pedro Porro leads the way in win over Bodo Glimt | OneFootball

A late Bodo/Glimt goal reduced Tottenham's advantage, but this was a good performance and means we take a lead into the second leg. Here are the player ratings:

GK Guglielmo Vicario

Did not have much to do but looked more assured in his area than recent weeks. Conceded the only shot on target, but fault for that goal lies with the defenders in front of him. Will likely be called upon a lot more in the second leg. Rating: 7

RB Pedro Porro

Great cross which led to the first goal and an excellent long pass to play in Maddison for the second. Porro was in good form, both attacking and defending. Is a real asset to our attacking play when he plays like this and critical to our system. Rating: 9

LB Destiny Udogie

Much improved from his last game, brought balance to our full-back play. Played with energy again and complemented Porro on the other flank in both attacking and defending. Rating: 7

CB Micky van de Ven

Was not tested much. Looked solid and comfortable in possession as usual. Perhaps should have got across quicker for Bodo/Glimt's late goal. Great to have him back and his pace gives us so much cover. Rating: 7

CB Cristian Romero

Like the rest of the defenders, he was not tested too much but looked comfortable until the one Bodo /Glimt goal. Joined in with the attacks well and won the penalty. Played a great ball out from the back for James Maddison, similar to Porro's pass, in the first half which could have resulted in a goal. Good to see him focused and playing well again. Rating: 8

CM James Maddison

Was a threat all game until his injury, looked a level above the opposition. Wonderful first touch for his goal and could have been in several more times. Injury cut short the performance just after the hour mark and is now a doubt for the second leg. A very talented player on his day and kept our play moving through the midfield. Rating: 8

CM Rodrigo Bentancur

With Lucas Bergvall being injured, Rodrigo Bentancur is even more important to the side as a player who can carry the ball like Bergvall. Was given time by the opponents and capitalized by having an influential game, particularly in the first half where he could have scored as well. Got caught up for the Bodo/Glimt goal and although the deflection was a little unlucky, the challenge should have been stronger. Rating: 8

CM Yves Bissouma

A surprise inclusion from the start and he has had an inconsistent time with Tottenham. Although not back to the dominant form he showed at Brighton, Bissouma's performance yesterday was better and helped us to control the midfield. Will likely play again in the return leg and will need to bring energy to track runners and establish some midfield possession. Rating: 7

RW Brennan Johnson

Got us off to the best possible start and it was great to see a different type of goal from Brennan Johnson. Still have the feeling there is more to come from him but looked effective, busy, and kept the Bodo/Glimt defenders pinned back at times. Rating: 7

CF Dominic Solanke

Calm penalty and generally looked too strong for the Bodo/Glimt defenders all night. His physical presence and link-up play were an important outlet for our attacks. Is another that went off with an injury and would be a big miss if he cannot play in the second leg. Rating: 7

LW Richarlison

I was hoping and expecting Tel to start but Richarlison played very well. Like Solanke, he added a physical presence that Bodo/Glimt struggled to deal with. Provided the assist for Johnson's goal and looked lively. Scuffed a few chances that came his way but I was still surprised when he came off so early, if it was for tactical reasons. Rating: 7

Substitutions: Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, Dejan Kulusevski.

Odobert came on for Solanke and, as a very different type of player, our approach did change. Always a willing runner, and keen to take on defenders. Had a good run shortly after coming on and perhaps should have pulled the ball back instead of going for goal. I hope we see him in the second leg at some point, too, as he gives opposition defenders something different to think about. Rating: 6

Tel came on for Richarlison for the second half. Like Odobert, he brings direct running and is always positive. Hit a good volley near the end that unfortunately deflected wide. Rating: 7
