Tottenham Hotspur have struggled this season, with manager Ange Postecoglou coming under fire for their poor performances.
Spurs have been decimated by injuries and must sign reinforcements to turn the tide. Striker Dominic Solanke was the latest to join the treatment table and will be out for around six weeks.
Tottenham desperately need someone to compete with Richarlison, who is returning from a lengthy injury.
Spurs missed out on top target Randal Kolo Muani but cannot afford to delay with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion star Evan Ferguson.
The 20-year-old is reportedly available, and Tottenham are in the mix for his signature. They must quickly pip other suitors to his signature.
Ferguson took Europe by storm in the 2022/23 season, bagging 10 goals and three assists in 25 appearances for the Seagulls as they qualified for the Europa League.
His performances earned him praise from manager Roberto De Zerbi, who acknowledged that he could become one of the best in the world in his position.
De Zerbi said (via Sky Sports): “He can become big, big, big. His qualities are enough to become a great player.
“He can become one of the best, the top scorer in Europe. I don’t know how many young players score like him.”
He caught the attention of Manchester United and Chelsea, but Brighton gave him a mega deal until 2029 to stave off interest.
Injuries have since blighted his development. However, game time is hard to come by as he is down in the pecking order under Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler.
Spurs need to position themselves to snap him up for the next six months. His combination of physicality and lethal finishing could spur the team as they look to end their torrid spell.
Marseille, West Ham United and Bournemouth have been linked with Ferguson. If Tottenham are serious about salvaging their season, they cannot afford to miss this opportunity.
