Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing AS Monaco forward Breel Embolo in the January transfer window.
According to a report from L’Equipe, Spurs are in the race to sign the 27-year-old forward who could be allowed to leave the club before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Ange Postecoglou wants to add at least one player in the current window, but they have found it hard to secure deals for their top targets.
Monaco value the 73-times capped Switzerland striker at around £16.5 million. Como are also interested in signing him, but they are not willing to meet the asking price.
Spurs are interested, while Monaco could also consider a swap deal with Bayern Munich involving Mathys Tel.
His contract is expiring in the next 18 months. He has been at the French club since 2022, and has scored 20 goals in 73 games. This season, he has scored four goals and provided two assists in 16 Ligue 1 games.
Spurs have been linked with a move for Southampton teenager Tyler Dibling but they are highly unlikely to sign him in this current window.
As of now, the North London club have not submitted any formal bid for Embolo. They retain an interest, but it is unclear whether they would at all move for him.
According to a report from The Express, Spurs are desperate to bring in a new attacker after agreeing to loan 18-year-old winger Yang Min-hyeok to Queens Park Rangers.
Tottenham have been linked with the likes of Liam Delap, Jonathan David and Santiago Gimenez this month. With the deadline fast approaching, they will have to move quickly.
Spurs are missing a host of attacking players at the moment. Dominic Solnake, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are all sidelined.
They are also missing key defenders like Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie.
