Tottenham Hotspur Are Facing Stiff Competition For This Leicester City Ace: Is He Worth The Fight?

In a recent interview with Last Word On Spurs, journalist Ben Jacobs claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are facing stiff competition for Leicester City ace Bilal El Khannouss this summer. Jacobs said,

“Leeds United are the only club in the Premier League that have made a formal inquiry, but West Ham and Tottenham have considered doing so. Relatively easy deal to get done. You’ll see some reports out there saying that Leicester want a fee in excess of £25 million. That’s not true to my understanding. Bilal El Khannouss has a relegation release clause which can be triggered for just €26 million. So that’s a deal at around £22 million. Player wants a move. He wants to stay in the Premier League”.

El Khannouss’ Impressive Rise In English Football

El Khannouss managed to impress with his performances as a key member of Leicester’s attack in the previous campaign. The Moroccan talent netted three goals and earned five assists in 36 matches for the Foxes last season across multiple competitions.

His current contract at the King Power Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Spurs to snap him up on the cheap this off-season.

Tottenham Hotspur Are Facing Stiff Competition For El Khannouss: Is He Worth The Fight?

El Khannouss is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some killer passes on the offensive end of the field. He can strike the ball well from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of goals for his team.

However, the Moroccan youngster is still quite raw and would need time to be a consistent performer at the highest level. He mainly operates in the number ten position but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if required.

We can expect El Khannouss to bring more firepower to Tottenham boss Thomas Frank’s attack. He is good enough to serve as a decent replacement for James Maddison, who suffered a serious injury during pre-season.

At 21, El Khannouss has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. He would be well worth the fight, so Spurs should consider stepping up their efforts to land him this summer.
