The 2024/25 season has been a disappointing campaign for Tottenham Hotspur. The North London club was expected to fight for a place in the top four but are stuck in 13th place on the Premier League table.
Spurs are out of the FA and League Cup, with a mountain to climb in their bid to overturn a first-leg 1-0 deficit in their Europa League round of 16 tie with AZ Alkmaar.
Some blame Tottenham’s bad form on the injuries, while others prefer to lay it at the foot of the manager, Ange Postecoglou. They believe the Spurs boss has been wrong with his tactics, and his style caused the injuries.
There is an expectation that Postecoglou will walk this summer, leaving Tottenham to find a new manager in the market.
According to Tuttosport (via Football London), Tottenham are eyeing a swoop for Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi. The highly rated Italian manager would be a massive coup for Spurs.
Inzaghi delivers trophies. Despite working on a shoestring budget, the 48-year-old is on course to deliver his second Serie A title in four years. He has won two Coppa Italia and three Super Cup titles with a squad comprised of mostly free transfers. They also reached the UEFA Champions League final.
During his time at Lazio, Inzaghi led the Romans to a Coppa Italia and two Super Cups, establishing himself as one of the best young managers in the business.
Inzaghi would be a transformative acquisition for Spurs. Tottenham need a coach who can establish an identity that balances defence and attack while competing for titles yearly.
Inzaghi has recorded 2.17 points per match with Inter Milan, a better number than the one revered Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp registered with the Reds (2.07).
Tottenham must do everything within their power to secure Inzaghi. If Spurs are serious about competing with the best and ending their trophy drought, he is the man to take them to the next level.
