Florian Plettenberg reports that Tottenham and Bayern Munich are currently attempting to negotiate a new loan deal for French striker Mathys Tel. Now that the purchase option in Tel’s previous loan arrangement has lapsed, the two clubs wish to start from square one. Tel still hasn’t officially been recalled early by his Bundesliga club for the coming Club World Cup.

Plettenberg doesn’t offer up much detail in terms of what the new loan accord might look like. Bayern are known to prefer a permanent sale while Spurs don’t wish to purchase the 20-year-old for more than €35m. One assumes that the two sides might seek to build in an automatic purchase option that triggers the set amount if certain performance incentives are met.

It once appeared to be the case that Bayern definitely wanted Tel back for June’s Club World Cup, but the fact that Tel still technically remains under contract in north London until the end of the month means that no final decision has been made. Thus far, Bayern have only secured two early loan recalls ahead of the coming tournament.

Left back Adam Aznou (Real Valladolid) and attacking midfielder Maurice Krattenmacher (SSV Ulm 1846) are officially part of the FCB squad for the forthcoming competition.
