Nottingham Forest secured a 2-1 victory away to Tottenham to move back up to third in the Premier League in the fight for Champions League football next season.

Elliot Anderson put Forest ahead inside five minutes with a first time half-volley from the edge of the box. His effort took a deflection and Guglielmo Vicario managed to get a hand on it but couldn't keep it out.

The visitors thought they had doubled their advantage soon after when Chris Wood fired an effort into the net but he was ruled to have strayed offside. It didn't take long for him to make it two however as he rose highest for a fizzing Anthony Elanga cross to beat Vicario to the ball and head into an empty net.

Spurs looked to hit back straight after the second and dominated the remainder of the half but couldn't find a way through. Richarlison missed a number of good chances to bring his side back into the game.

Harry Toffolo came to his side's rescue in the second half when he made a brilliant goal line clearance to deny Dejan Kulusevski a goal. Matz Sels then had to intervene soon after, making a great one-on-one save to keep Richarlison out.

The hosts continued to look for a goal to get themselves back in the tie and finally broke through a resilient Forest defence with under five minutes to play. Pedro Porro played in a pinpoint cross for Richarlison to head in and make the final moments nervy for the visitors.

Forest did well to see out the closing stages and seal the three points in North London to give their hopes of finishing in the Champions League places a big lift. The result piles the domestic misery on Spurs however, who now sit in 16th place.
