Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos is officially retired from club football, after his contract expired yesterday. The 34-year-old has already had his name sung back at him from the Santiago Bernabeu, and lifted the Liga and Champions League trophies in front of the fans at Cibeles, but bid farewell one final time on Instagram.

Kroos posted a picture with the Champions League trophy as the missing piece from his rather large collection. After nine years at the club, combined with his time at Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, Kroos has accumulated 23 trophies.

Picture 1 shows the missing piece of picture 2!Today is officially my last day as a Real Madrid player. Feels weird but i’ll always be one of you Real Madrid. Forever grateful! 🤍🤍🤍

The one trophy that he is missing in the entirety of European club and international football is three games away. If Kroos can win the Euros, then he will have completed the set, and will bow out with arguably the most impressive final season of a career in recent history at the very least.

Standing in Kroos’ way are now former teammates Dani Carvajal, Nacho Fernandez and Joselu Mato. If he can get past Spain, then die Mannschaft will be hot favourites to lift Euro 2024 with Kroos orchestrating matters.
