Real Madrid star Federico Valverde is leading Europe’s top-5 leagues in one altogether noteworthy statistical category thus far this season.

This comes by way of the Uruguayan international’s long-range passing.

Valverde, for his part, has been tasked with taking on an even more prominent role in Real Madrid’s midfield over the early weeks of 2024/25.

With Toni Kroos having retired, and Luka Modrić taking more of a back seat under Carlo Ancelotti’s watch, the 26-year-old is now expected to act as something of a swiss army knife in Los Blancos’ engine room.

It is Valverde’s staggering drive, defensive prowess and long-range shooting which continue to draw the most attention when it comes to the 26-year-old’s contributions.

As alluded to above, though, another aspect of his game which has gone somewhat under the radar is that of Valverde’s passing.

Not only has the South American shone when picking out his teammates this season, but he has done so at a superior rate to any other player on the continent.

As per statisticians WhoScored:

‘Federico Valverde has the best long pass completion rate (81%) of any outfield player in Europe’s top five leagues this season (40+ attempted).’
