According to a report from L’Équipe, Tom Pouilly (22) is set to leave RC Lens for Ligue 2 side Pau FC on a three-year contract.
Last year, the right-back had a breakthrough season, making the step up from the reserve team to the first team under former head coach Will Still. Pouilly made 10 appearances for his boyhood club, two of which were starts (a 2-1 win against Olympique Lyonnais and a 1-1 draw with Toulouse FC).
It had looked like Pouilly would continue his progress this season, and the versatile player had been used as a wing-back and a centre-back during the club’s pre-season training. However, the anticipated arrival of Saud Abdulhamid (on loan) and the presence of Ruben Aguilar mean game time would have been sparse.
Pouilly, who has a contract at Lens until 2027, will instead look to launch his career in the south of France as he prepares to join a Les Béarnais side looking to improve on their 13th-place finish.
