Today marks 29 years since Real Madrid got their hands on the Copa Iberoamericana. On the 25th of May 1994, our team won the only ever edition of the competition which pitted the winner of the Copa del Rey against the holders of the Conmebol Copa de Oro. The title was decided in a two-legged final against Boca Juniors. The first game was held at the Santiago Bernabéu, where Real Madrid beat the Argentine side 3-1 thanks to a Morales brace and a Hierro strike.

The return leg took place six days later in Buenos Aires. Boca Juniors went ahead with goals for Da Silva and Naveda, before Pero Milla clinched the Copa Iberoamericana for Real Madrid with a 74th-minute strike that made it  2-1. The trophy was a fine end to a season which also saw the madridistas clinch the Spanish Super Cup. SECOND LEG (La Bombonera, 25/05/1994) 2- Boca Juniors: Pogany, Noriega, Medero, Arruabarrena, Carranza, Tejera, Tapia, Farías, Saldaña (Moya, 26’), Da Silva and Naveda.  1- Real Madrid: Buyo, Velasco (Ramis, 86’), Chendo, Antía, Nando, Marcos, Prosinecki, Martín Vázquez, Míchel, Milla and Dani (Morales, 80’).
