Thomas Tuchel’s bizzare Bayern Munich tenure ended in miserable fashion.
The fallen Bundesliga champions rounded off a forgettable campaign with a final-day 4-2 defeat at Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Tuchel had already signalled his intention to leave the Allianz Arena in February, with his charges heavily adrift of champions-elect Bayer Leverkusen.
But the 50-year-old’s farewell tour fell flat as Die Roten capitulated in the Champions League semi-final and finished third in the German top flight, their lowest finish since the 2011/12 season.
His statistics from a 14-month spell in Bavaria makes for grim reading, too, with 16 losses from 61 in charge that leaves him with a points average of 1.95 per game.
It’s the worst return of any Bayern head coach since Giovanni Trapattoni in 1994/95 – almost 30 years ago.
