…recent results: “I don’t want to simply use the winter break as an excuse. We have faced some tough opponents but it’s those decisive moments, both going forward and at the back, in which we’ve been caught lacking. You’re not going to win many matches playing as we have been.”

…Borussia Dortmund: “They possess a lot of quality, regardless of how they have been playing of late. We are just focusing on ourselves and will see what comes of that. Both teams want to win. I am really looking forward to playing on such a great stage having come from a smaller league.”

…differences compared to the previous meeting in December: “It makes your life easier when you don’t concede but we’ve been shipping a few of late so need to work together as a team to get that defensive solidity back. If you let in a number of goals, then things aren’t likely to go as you hoped. We all need to step it up a notch if we are to get out of this rut.”

…the mood in camp: “We are all aware of the fact that it hasn’t been good enough in those decisive moments but everyone also knows what we need to do better. It’s not that we played particularly badly on the whole, we have just been missing that extra sharpness and clarity when it’s mattered.”

…the national side: “As of now, I am still yet to hear from the coach. All I can do is focus on delivering good performances in order to help the team earn points and then everything else should fall into place. Obviously you want to be called up, especially for major tournaments.”
