Thiago Motta: Man United managerial target draws closer to Juventus as they offer him three-year deal | OneFootball

Bologna boss and reported Manchester United target Thiago Motta is drawing closer to sealing a move to Juventus, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Amidst intense pressure on Erik ten Hag, whose future at Old Trafford is hanging in the balance, Motta has been mentioned as a manager Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are eyeing.

Motta has earned praise for his work at Bologna this season, which he capped by guiding the club to a European finish for the first time in 22 years. Even more impressive is that Bologna will be making that bow in the Champions League.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan midfielder has become synonymous with a high possession-based brand of football which prioritises playing on the front foot and overcoming opponents with exquisite passing and fluid play patterns.

Motta’s football philosophy also emphasises winning the ball high up the pitch and hitting teams in transition. It’s therefore easy to see why United retain an admiration for him, especially considering Ten Hag’s failure to implement a clear and defined style of play.

The 20-time English champions are not the only party believed to be chasing Motta. Juventus and AC Milan are also thought to have him on their radar.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Milan had established contact with Motta’s camp to explore the possibility of him taking over from Stefano Pioli.

However, it’s Juventus’ links to the 41-year-old that appear to really be gaining traction and in a fresh update provided by Romano, the Serie A giants have taken a significant step in their efforts to land the tactician by offering him a contract.

Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Juventus contract proposal to Thiago Motta to become their new head coach for next season is three year deal, valid until June 2027.”

“Thiago Motta did an excellent job as Bologna manager qualifying to UCL… and he will inform the club about his final decision soon.”

Motta joining the Old Lady would represent a big blow for United if Ratcliffe and his associates were set on luring him to England.

Even more worrying is that with Motta out of the market, United will have fewer quality alternatives to look at if they decide to part ways with Ten Hag.
