Cardiff City are fighting to keep their Championship status alive.

The Bluebirds may well see their second tier fate decided on the final day of the season, and owner Vincent Tan has made a huge dugout decision in an attempt to turn the tide in their favour.

Omer Riza was sacked following the club's defeat at Sheffield United on Good Friday, with injured midfielder Aaron Ramsey taking interim charge of the side for their final games of the campaign.

Therefore, regardless of whether they do claw their way to Championship survival, or drop into League One, this upcoming summer transfer window is set to be one of the most important in Cardiff's recent history.

"They can happily go" - Cardiff City's dream summer transfer window outlined

We asked our Cardiff City fan pundit, Matt Hall: 'What would a dream summer 2025 transfer window look like for your club?

Hall said: "In terms of a dream 2025 transfer window, I think we're now almost talking damage limitation really.

"We're going to get relegated. I think damage limitation of how much we can keep of this squad. A perfect window would be to offload players like Perry Ng. We've got a lot of players out of contract, they can go.

"Maybe someone like an Ethan Horvath, Chris Willock - players who are on the later side of 20, on decent wages, and aren't performing. They can happily go.

"I think the other best case scenario is that you look at Alex Robertson and Yousef Salech, they stay. We keep hold of the core young players in the squad.

"Even going to the academy boys like Dylan Lawlor, who has been looked at by clubs. I think an ideal window is that we get down to League One, and we build a young core of what is the proudest part of the club, which is the academy, and we get rid of the deadwood.

"That is our ideal summer. I don't think signing players, I just don't see us doing it. I just think we might get a few Premier League loan players in to supplement the squad, but bar that, probably nothing.

"It's not exactly a Hollywood window, put it that way, but I think the ideal window is just a bit of stability, and keeping the young foundations of the squad that we've got at the moment."

Cardiff City should certainly feel confident about the young talent they have coming through

Despite it largely being a gloomy season for Cardiff City, everyone involved with the club will surely be feeling positive and excited about their young talent coming through.

Versatile forward Cian Ashford looks to be a very exciting talent for the future, with his breakthrough into the Cardiff City first-team this season being one of the brighter tales of the campaign.

Elsewhere, the likes of Yousef Salech, Rubin Colwill, Ollie Tanner, Will Fish and Alex Robertson are all 23 or under, whilst 17-year-old right-back Ronan Kpakio looks like he could well have the brightest future of the lot.

Therefore, the Bluebirds do seem to have an excellent group of young players who have either already developed into first-team regulars, or are in the process of doing so.

As such, regardless of whether they're operating as a Championship or League One club next season, really leaning into their academy and young talent could well provide a pathway to future success, both on and off the pitch.
