February 6 will always be the most poignant and emotional date in the history of Manchester United due to the 1958 Munich Air Disaster.

67 years on, the Busby Babes' legacy remains as strong as ever, forever beloved by a club they helped build, and fellow players and a fanbase they inspired.

United had won the previous two First Division titles, and were on the cusp of greatness in Europe when the tragedy took place en route back from their European Cup quarter-final success against Red Star Belgrade.

Of the 23 passengers who died in the accident, eight were United players, notably Duncan Edwards, who many who watched him play view as the greatest talent in the history of English football.

Sir Matt Busby, who survived the plane crash, labelled them "the greatest side" even ahead of his team that lifted the European Cup 10 years later.

As Sir Alex Ferguson says: "the origins of this football club as it is today goes down to that time."

They will never be forgotten, and will be forever remembered. The Flowers of Manchester.
