EA Sports FC 24 is here and the game is always much more fun when you lean on one or two speed merchants, isn’t it?

The game’s astonishingly detailed player ratings database measures speed for every player, defined by sprint speed and acceleration, which add up to the overall ability classed as pace.

10. Michael

A comparatively lesser-known in the Saudi Pro League, Brazilian forward Michael joined Al Hilal straight from Flamengo last year and now counts Neymar, Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic among his teammates?

Michael has an overall rating of 77. His shooting leaves a lot to be desired with a rating of 69. But he is absolutely rapid – his pace rating of 94 is up 10 points on last year’s edition.

9. Jeremie Frimpong

Man City academy graduate Frimpong is making a name for himself in real life as one of the most dynamic and exciting players in Xabi Alonso’s must-watch Bayer Leverkusen side.

The 22-year-old is blessed with electric pace and is pretty much the perfect profile for a wing-back. He’s got a pace rating of 94, with play styles listed as ‘Rapid’, ‘Flair’ and ‘Quick Step’.

8. Ismaila Sarr

Watford’s record signing had spent two of the last three seasons languishing in the Championship. Given what he’s shown at his very best, it was always a big ask for Sarr to spend another year in the second tier.

The Senegal international is now back in a major European league after signing for Marseille in the summer.

7. Inaki Williams

There are two absolutely outstanding qualities to Athletic Bilbao’s homegrown cult hero striker.

The first is his durability. Earlier this year, Williams set a La Liga record for consecutive La Liga appearances – a mind-blowing tally of 251 matches that stretched almost seven years.

The other is his speed. Regular watchers of Spanish football will tell you that Williams can be a little erratic with his finishing and decision-making in the final third, but his pace (rating: 94) always keeps opposition defences on their toes. He’s off like a flash if he sniffs an opportunity.

6. Sirlord Conteh

The lowest-ranked player in terms of overall rating (68) in this top 10, and arguably the least-known player, is German winger Conteh – who plies his trade for Bundesliga II outfit SC Paderborn.

What he lacks in other areas (positioning, finishing, shot power, crossing and passing range from 50s to 60s), Conteh makes up for in pace. He’s rated 95 for pace, which includes 95 for sprint speed.

A useful player if you can utilise his strengths adeptly.

5. Alphonso Davies

“I know the cartoon. I saw him as a child,” Davies said back in 2020.

“Yes, I’m quick. I took it as a compliment that he [Muller] called me Road Runner. It’s a good nickname for me.”

One of the most apt nicknames in football, Davies broke onto the scene by showcasing his astonishing pace in Bayern’s unforgettable 2019-20 treble-winning campaign.

The Canadian has suffered one or two injury issues since then, but fortunately he hasn’t lost any of his pace – as his 95 rating attests.

4. Moussa Diaby

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are blessed with one of the fastest players in world football.

Diaby signed with Villa for a club-record £51million fee in the summer after taking his game to another level at Bayer Leverkusen last season.

The France international has made a strong start to life at Villa Park and his speed (pace: 95, up two points on last year) adds another dimension to Emery’s attack.

3. Vinicius Junior

Real Madrid have recently had to make do without their star Brazilian, who has grown into one of the most dynamic wide forwards in world football over the past couple of years.

Vinicius Junior has recently returned to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, giving Los Blancos a major boost as the fixtures come thick and fast. The Brazilian is rated 89 overall, one of the very top marks in the entire game, with acceleration and sprint speed rated at 95.

2. Karim Adeyemi

The forward is still only 21, but has long been talked up as a star of the future – ever since he joined Red Bull Salzburg’s academy as a teenager.

There’s no questioning his remarkable pace – rated 96 – but he’s still something of a rough diamond, with an overall rating of 80 and a somewhat peripheral role at Borussia Dortmund in the opening weeks of the 2023-24 campaign. The Germany international is yet to score or assist for his club this season.
