Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an injury update on four players ahead of the Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Old Trafford tomorrow.

The Red Devils have had a poor run of results following the March international break, picking up only eight points from a possible 24 in the top flight.

United are three points behind Newcastle and Chelsea, and they cannot afford to slip up against the Magpies if they want to qualify for Europe.

In his pre-match presser, Ten Hag revealed that Lisandro Martinez could return to action. He said: “Very good question. Licha Martinez, I think he will return to the squad.

“He has now [had] some sessions with us and we plan for him to be available. This afternoon, [if] everything goes right in the training, he will return in the squad.”

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford returned to training before the Arsenal game last weekend, but they were surprisingly not fit enough to make the matchday squad.

Willy Kambwala featured off the bench after recovering from his injury. Ten Hag added that the trio could be involved if they are fit enough.

The manager also had something more to say about Fernandes, who has been linked with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League over the last 24 hours.

Ten Hag explained that he has been a tremendously important player and there is no reason for the club to part ways with their club captain in the near future.

“I think that it is clear,” Ten Hag added. “He is, also now, but I think in all the years, I think he was a tremendously important player for Manchester United and creating the most chances across the whole Premier League. So many assists, so many goals, it is clear he is a very important player for us.”

Raphael Varane confirmed his decision to leave United earlier today. The Frenchman has been nursing an injury, but could be involved in the final two games of the season.
