Too many Celtic players underperformed in last night’s 1-1 draw with Club Brugge, including Greg Taylor who was totally exposed at the left back position and not for the first time in European football.
It was quite noticeable that Club Brugge had joy down the left flank especially in the first half, and that is mainly all down to Greg Taylor who looked totally out-of-sorts last night as Brugge exposed his frailties on more than a few occasions.
But while he deserves criticism like most of his teammates last night, some of the abuse he receives is totally unjustified. Greg Taylor has been something of a whipping boy during his time at the club, for whatever reason I don’t know, as in the whole he’s been a totally reliable player for us.

The former Kilmarnock left-back has played under Neil Lennon, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers and every one of them has had complete faith in him as the amount of appearances he’s made will suggest.
Yes he may not be the best left back we’ve ever had, but he gives his all and he’s been a terrific servant to the club. He certainly doesn’t deserve the stick he receives from sections of the Celtic support. Greg Taylor is entering into the last few months of his current contract and at the end of next month he will be free to speak to other clubs with a view to signing a pre-contract deal.

Brendan Rodgers has spoken about his desire to extend Greg’s stay at Celtic but to date both parties remain far apart in terms of the financial side of a new deal.
