A tabloid has claimed that Chelsea are one of the clubs leading the race to sign a striker who I believe is incredible, who is not Victor Osimhen.

The Blues are clearly going to be looking at the striker market again very soon after a failed attempt to sign Osimhen in the summer. There have been rumours suggesting that Chelsea might go back in for Osimhen at the end of the season, but I’m not so sure that they will at this point in time.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea pick main candidate for new full back transfer pursuit!

So where else can they turn? There is one names creating absolute waves in world football right now and becoming the most prolific striker in Europe, that is Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres, who just scored a hat-trick against Manchester City this week.

Gyokeres is a top striker who just knows where the goal is but not only that, is a very good all round striker. And now, according to reports, Chelsea are one of the clubs leading the race to sign him.

Gyokeres is a great striker

Manchester United and Chelsea will lead the race to sign Sporting Lisbon sensation Viktor Gyokeres next summer, according to The Daily Star

Gyokeres has plundered a stunning 66 goals in 67 matches since joining Sporting from Coventry City for just £20m in 2023. The 26-year-old now has a release clause in his contract worth €100m.

But the report says Sporting president Frederico Varandas agreed to consider offers in the region of €80m, if Gyokeres was willing to remain with Sporting until the end of this season.

Chelsea should be all over this – it’s a great fee for an elite striker, and I don’t even care that he is playing in a league that is deemed not very challenging. Gyokeres has been scoring for fun in Europe as well as in the league.
