The Euro 2025 hosts have been forced to cancel a training session on Tuesday, with an illness spreading through the Switzerland camp days before their quarter final against Spain.

Switzerland women have been struck with a disaster just three days before their first Euro 2025 knockout game with an illness hitting the team.

The tournament hosts are set to play world champions, Spain, on Friday night but their preparation has taken a huge hit early on.

There was supposed to be a training session held by Switzerland on Tuesday afternoon but the media covering the practice were informed of its cancellation just half an hour before it was set to start.

A message from the Swiss FA read: “Today’s planned training session has been postponed until tomorrow. The background: In the past few days, some players have felt the symptoms of a cold.”

“In order to ensure a high-quality training programme, the technical staff have decided to give today off and complete the training session planned for today tomorrow. We apologise for the short notice.”

While the illness is a problem for Switzerland, there is still plenty of time for the team to recover before Friday’s game but if and how they train on Wednesday could be a key indication to their chances in the quarter final.

Switzerland Euro 2025 odds

With Spain coming up in the quarter finals, there is no doubt that Switzerland have their backs against the walls already.

The world champions cruised through the group stage and broke all sorts of records as they put 14 goals past their opponents in just three games.

Switzerland on the other hand only scraped into the quarter finals thanks to a dramatic stoppage time equaliser from Riola Xhemaili against Finland.

It comes as no surprise that Spain are heavily favoured to beat Switzerland on Friday night, with the UK’s best betting sites pricing the reigning World Cup winners at just 1/9, with the tournament hosts 16/1.

For those looking to take a chance on Switzerland to cause an upset and win their home Euros, the nation are 66/1 to win their first-ever championship this year.
