Keen to bring UEFA Champions League football to our supporters in Glasgow, Celtic FC Women pitched to host the tournament.

However, with the other three clubs citing visa issues following Brexit, it was left to a draw between KuPS Kuopio of Finland and FC Gintra of Lithuania, who were both also eager to host.

If Elena Sadiku's side are successful against KuPS Kuopio, they will face the winner of the other semi-final, either FC Gintra or Agarista CSF Anenii Noi of Moldova, for a place in Round Two of qualifying. This final is scheduled for Saturday, September 7.

There is a also third-place play-off fixture for the losers of the opening semi-finals, also set for September 7.

To give the team more experience facing top level European competition and replicate the format of the Round One mini-tournament, the Ghirls will also travel to Sweden for a summer training camp where they will play two fixtures against Djurgården and Hammarby Women.

Ahead of the SWPL season starting on the weekend of August 10/11, Celtic will face goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty’s former side, Djurgården, on Saturday, August 3 at Stockholm Stadium (Kick-off Celtic Park time: 1pm).

Djurgården are offering free entry for the game.

The Hammarby tie kicks off at 3pm (Celtic Park time) on Wednesday, August 7 at Tyresö Vallen Stadium, where the champions of Scotland and Sweden go head-to-head.

Hammarby were also the last team that Celtic Head Coach, Elena Sadiku, played for before retiring.

Ticketing information for this game is to be confirmed.
