Sunderland defender Brown signs new two-year deal | OneFootball

Sunderland defender Jessica Brown has signed a new two-year deal with the club which will run until summer 2026.

The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Brown has spent the last seven years with the Wearside club and she will now represent them on a professional basis going forward.

The 20-year-old full-back was heavily used by Sunderland manager Melanie Reay this season. Brown made 20 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship. She played a starring role against Crystal Palace in a goalless draw at Selhurst Park on the final day of the season.

After signing her first professional deal with Sunderland, Brown said “I feel like this is definitely the place for me, I’ve developed so much already. It’s something I’ve been working towards for quite a while, and for Mel [Reay] and Steph [Libbey] to offer me that, it was really nice.”

Brown follows midfielder Natasha Fenton is committing her future to Sunderland for the next two years. Fenton penned her new deal prior to the end of the season.

Further squad news will be announced by Sunderland in the coming weeks. Manager Reay is confident of keeping the majority of her squad together for next season.
