Sport Bild reports that Stuttgart have immediately rejected Bayern Munich’s second offer for rising German attacker Nick Woltemade. The Swabian Bundesliga outfit holds firm in its demand that no discussions will be held unless a €65m offer is submitted. The German record champions are still €10m short of this threshold. Some German sources suggest Stuttgart won’t let Woltemade go for less than €80m.
Stuttgart chairman Alexander Wehrle once again reiterated over the weekend that his club will not be considering a sale this summer. Bayern themselves appeared prepared to lay off until a horror injury to Jamal Musiala left them in dire need of a new ten. The prospect of Woltemade working directly behind Harry Kane naturally fuels Bayern’s pursuit of the 23-year-old.
Few German footballing media sources expect the two clubs to come to terms, but there remains quite a long way to go in the current summer transfer window. It remains common knowledge that Woltemade himself has lodged a transfer request, meaning that he will have to work hard to earn the respect of the VfB fan-base in the coming season.
