Enzo Fernandez had a key role as Chelsea reached the FIFA Club World Cup’s knockout rounds with a 3-0 win over Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
The Argentina midfielder set up first-half goals for Tosin Adarabioyo and Liam Delp, as Chelsea took control of the contest on the stroke of half-time.
Fernandez’s brace of assists continued a strong start to the tournament for the midfielder, who scored in the opening win over Los Angeles FC. It also extended the 24-year-old’s fine form for Chelsea with Opta underlining his increasing influence.
Fernandez has now been directly involved in 11 goals for Chelsea since the start of April (4 goals, 7 assists), more than any other Premier League player.
That return includes a goal and assist in the Europa Conference League final as the West Londoners beat Real Betis 4-1 to win the trophy.
After transfer speculation surrounding Fernandez last season, he looks irreplaceable o Enzo Maresca right now.
