Down in League Two, George Abbott and his Notts County side were looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat at home to Walsall last time out, as they hosted Swindon Town in one of the early kick offs, live on the Sky Sports red button for those in the UK.
As ever, the young Spurs midfielder was named in the starting XI, in the midfield two, next to captain Matt Palmer - his 17th League Two start of the season.
After 17 minutes of the game, Notts would take the lead via David McGoldrick. 19 minutes later, he had his and Notts' second goal of the game, with a superb assist from Abbott. Their official twitter account said: "Outstanding midfield play from Abbott, who glides into space, and plays a stunning through ball for McGoldrick to control and finish."
Just really, really great to see. The teenager continues to go from strength to strength. This would be enough to give Stuart Maynard's side a two goal lead heading into the half time interval.
In the second half, Notts continued to be the better team, and had some good chances to further extend their lead, but were unable to. It mattered little, however, as they kept their third clean sheet in the last five games, as they comfortably saw the game out and secured an important 2-0 victory.
Once again, Abbott played the 90 minutes, despite Maynard making all five available subs. It was another fine all round performance from the on loan youngster, who recorded; 92 touches, 2/2 accurate long balls, four clearances, one interception, and five tackles.
With the transfer window now open, and therefore recalls now possible, it will be interesting to see what Spurs do with Abbott. It was reported all the way back in September that a recall had crossed their minds, with the player clearly too good for League Two. There has been little evidence since then to suggest anything different, but would sending him to another side be too much of a risk?
There is a similar situation with Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley at Leyton Orient, with talk that Spurs are going to make a decision on their immediate future's this month - amid interest in both from 'higher up the pyramid'. In both cases, it feels risky to disrupt their really productive loan spells - even if they could play at a higher level.
This win leaves Notts in place in 5th place in the current League Two table, with 40 points from their 24vgames so far this current campaign.
Although it is FA Cup third round weekend, next up for Notts is another League Two game, with both them and their hosts, Grimsby Town, both out of the competition. This game is on Saturday, and another 12:30 GMT kick off.
