Tottenham Hotspur are set to welcome back key players ahead of their Premier League showdown with Manchester United, as Ange Postecoglou’s side benefits from a timely injury boost. With the club navigating a challenging season, these returns could provide the spark needed to maintain their push for European qualification.
Spurs fans will be buoyed by the news that goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, left-back Destiny Udogie, and creative linchpin James Maddison are all poised to return to action this weekend. The trio’s availability offers Postecoglou much-needed reinforcements following months of persistent injury woes.
Speaking ahead of the crucial fixture, the Tottenham boss confirmed the positive news:
“Some of the lads who have been out for quite a while look like they are in a good place now after a good week of training.”
Maddison, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury, has made impressive progress, returning slightly ahead of schedule. Postecoglou added:
“Madders is a little bit ahead of schedule, he’s feeling really good and has had a good week of training. We were thinking maybe next week for him, but he’s trained really well all week.”

Udogie, meanwhile, has overcome his rehabilitation hurdles and is back in team training, ready to shore up the left flank once more.
Tottenham’s forward line is also set for a boost, with Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner both closing in on full fitness. Johnson, who has impressed in flashes this season, has resumed team training and could feature this weekend, while Werner is also on the cusp of availability.
Postecoglou elaborated on their recoveries:
“Brennan is progressing well, joined in team training. Whether it’s this weekend or next weekend, he’ll be good to go. Timo is also getting pretty close to being available.”

The return of these attacking options is a timely lift for Spurs, who have often struggled to convert possession into goals during their injury-ravaged campaign.
While the attacking reinforcements arrive, Tottenham’s defensive core remains thin. Centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both at least two to three weeks away from returning. The Dutchman’s recovery has been carefully managed after a minor setback in January, while Romero continues to struggle with a quad injury.
Postecoglou explained:
“With Micky, because he played that game [against Elfsborg], we decided to take a different strategy. We want to make sure he’s absolutely right. Similar with Cuti [Romero], we’re just waiting for his quad to heal. It’s taken longer than we thought, and we need one more scan to ensure it’s properly healed.”

In addition to the trio of returning players, Spurs have received positive news regarding Richarlison’s recovery from a calf injury. The Brazilian forward, who has struggled with consistency this season, is expected to follow a similar recovery timeline to Maddison and Johnson.
“His was a calf, Madders and Brennan had similar injuries,” Postecoglou said. “Depending on how he recovers, we’re looking at about the same sort of time frame for Richy.”
As Tottenham prepare for their encounter with Manchester United, these injury updates will inject renewed optimism into the squad and fanbase alike. With several crucial fixtures looming, having key players back on the pitch could prove decisive in the battle for a top-four finish.
