Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand has given the green light for a move to Juventus this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

With deals for midfield targets Granit Xhaka and Sandro Tonali looking distant, Juventus have shifted their focus towards Hjulmand.

However, the Danish international won’t come cheap as his contract has an €80 million release clause.

Given Sporting’s stringent stance on star striker Viktor Gyokeres, it will not be easy to prise Hjulmand away from the club

Hjulmand has established himself as a vital cog in Sporting’s midfield, leading them to back-to-back Primeira League titles in the last two seasons.

The 26-year-old is one of the finest deep-lying playmakers in Europe, ranking in the 87th percentile for progressive passes and 93rd percentile for duels won.

With Sporting continuing their talks to sign Juve full-back Alberto Costa, the Serie A club are looking to take advantage of their strong ties with the Portuguese counterparts.

The Bianconeri need to accelerate their sales operation to generate funds for the signing of Hjulmand, who is also on Manchester United’s wishlist.

Dusan Vlahovic, Timothy Weah, Douglas Luiz and Samuel Mbangula are among the primary candidates to leave Juve in this transfer window.
