Dougie Freedman ends all rumours as he commits his future to Premier League outfits Crystal Palace.

According to a report by David Ornstein of The Athletic, Crystal Palace sporting director Freedman has signed a new contract with the South Londoners, thus committing his long-term future to the club. This news sends Newcastle United searching for a new sporting director after showing a significant interest in Freedman over the last few months.

The Magpies are expecting Dan Ashworth to leave for Manchester United during the summer for a similar role and now have to fill the space.

Freedman played an influential role in bringing current manager Oliver Glasner to Palace in February, which helped them finish the Premier League as strongly as possible. The 49-year-old Scotsman will be handed the task of finding good offers for their players like Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Marc Guehi as they are expected to receive interest from other clubs this summer.
