Sparta Rotterdam sign Twente winger on permanent basis | OneFootball

Sparta Rotterdam have signed Mitchell van Bergen from FC Twente. The 25-year-old winger spent last season on loan at the Spangen club, but he now joins permanently.

Van Bergen has signed a four-year contract at Het Kasteel, meaning he’s under contract until the summer of 2029. Technical director Gerard Nijkamp spoke about the transfer to the club’s media.

“It was no secret that we wanted to keep Mitchell after the successful past six months, but initially, this was unattainable. With Mitchell, we add speed and dynamism to our squad, and he has already shown himself to be involved in several goals during his first period at Sparta.”

In the six months since Van Bergen initially joined Sparta, he scored three goals in 14 Eredivisie appearances. Last weekend, the attacker was left out of Twente’s squad for the match against PSV, and thus, the move got underway.
