Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams have been two of Spain’s most influential players at Euro 2024. The pair have terrorised opposition defences over the last couple of weeks, and they intend to do the same to holders Germany, whom La Roja face in a blockbuster quarter-final showdown on Friday evening.

Given that both players are still very young (16 and 21 respectively), Spain want to take no risks with either’s fitness – especially after a long 2023-24 season. Because of this, Lamine Yamal and Williams were given a rest from full training on Tuesday, as they instead did recovery work in the gym, as reported by Relevo.

There was a shock generated when Lamine Yamal and Williams, as well as Aymeric Laporte and Fabian Ruiz, were not with the group three days out from the Germany showdown. However, there is no cause for concern, with Luis de la Fuente and his coaching staff simply opting to take extra precautions. They will all be fit for Spain, barring any last minute setbacks.
